This will not be easy, but if you succeed you might become the next Weezy F Baby! Also, remember that most new Artist these days were already semi famous before being discovered. These artist already had thousands and thousands of myspace/youtube fans. There youtube videos were being watched thousands of times and they were already in demand. Basically, you have to establish yourself as someone well liked, entertaining and contract worthy, before getting signed.
1. If you're a singer, you can use your real name. However, it's best to pick a stage name if your name is too plain. Rappers should always choose a stage name. You need a name that will stand out but still have some type of meaning to you.
2. You need to make a demo cd and give out free copies in your community. Go to night clubs and hand them out after the club ends. Give all of your local DJ's a free demo, they just might play it at events/parties for you. Pass out fliers and business cards with your demo. Make sure to put your website and contact information on it. Go to local stores and ask if you can leave some cd's on the counter! Have a car wash and perform for customers who are waiting. Get your name out there, make sure everyone knows who you are. Sometimes crowds gather outside of the club after it ends, this is the perfect time to perform. Why not? An audience is an audience. Do a rap battle with a friend or sing a popular song, in front of the crowd. Finally, send your demo to your local radio stations.

4. Go to local talent shows and rap battles to compete. Singers go to local churches and offer to put on a free show. Go to Karaoke night clubs, offer to sing at weddings and rap at parties. While everyone else is partying you should be promoting!
5. Always have a good personality! Make people like you, make them want to see/help you get famous. The more fans you get, the better your chance of being famous. Keep your fans coming back for more, change your appearance every now and then. Do something unexpected, step outside the box. Get the point? lolz
6. Make interesting videos and put them on Youtube. The video doesn't have to be high tech, but it must keep people interested. Let your personality shine through. Rappers and Singers are called "entertainers" for a reason. So, entertain your fans! Use the Myspace robot to post your videos on peoples comment wall. I recommend sending 50 comments a day, which is 350 comments per week. Not only will those 350 people see the video, but their friends will too and they might add you or subscribe too. Don't be one of those people with only a few Youtube views. Promote yourself the right way!
7. Rappers, you can start a beef war on Youtube with someone who is already popular on there. This will help you get more views and get your name out there faster. Youtube rap battles are the internet version of street battles. If you can beat that person then you might steal their fans.. ;) Singers, showoff your talent by singing popular songs on Youtube. If you sound good singing a song from a popular album/artist, this will get youtubers attention. For example, if they like Whitney Houston, and you can sing like her. Chances are they will like you too. Singers, you should also take song request from your Youtube fans. This will keep them coming back to your channel. Remember that people like to be entertained.
8. Honestly, why do most people watch music videos? They want to see whose in it and what they're doing in it. Rappers always have a sexy girl in their video because they know other guys don't want to look at them for 4 minutes lolz. Even singers have a model or two in their video. Basically, sex sells! So, either you got to be sexy or you got to put someone sexy in your video. Unless, you're doing a rap battle! That's the only time where the focus is on the beef/rap, the whole time. Oh and even Christian singers are sexy! Have you seen them? I have! Sexy doesn't mean you have to be naked.
9.. Never give up! It took a year or more for most Artist to get discovered. Don't think your cd will just magically appear in the hands of a producer.
